 After the Rain

After the rain stops
on this starless Friday morning,
water still tattles in the gutters
and whispers onto the sidewalk’s grain

like a lover weighing another’s duty
to the wind-brushed sea of the sky—
take off your wet shoes
and come back to bed.

Devon Neal (he/him) is a Bardstown, KY resident who received a B.A. in Creative Writing from Eastern Kentucky University and an MBA from The University of the Cumberlands. He currently works as a Human Resources Manager in Louisville, KY. His work has been featured in Moss Puppy Magazine, From the Depths and The Rye Whiskey Review, and coalitionworks, and is forthcoming in Intangience Magazine.
